ECOnscious GIVING. Our commitment to the environment extends well beyond how our products are made, to the community at large. Giving back is a fundamental part of our DNA and a huge part of what makes us excited to go to work every day. We believe that by leveraging our collective resources we can all play a role in the global movement towards a more sustainable and just society.

Here are some of our non-profit partners that your purchases have helped support….

December 2012 - 350.org - 11/26/2012

350.org350.org is building a global grassroots movement to solve the climate crisis. Our online campaigns, grassroots organizing, and mass public actions are led from the bottom up by thousands of volunteer organizers in over 188 countries.

350 means climate safety. To preserve our planet, scientists tell us we must reduce the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere from its current level of 392 parts per million to below 350 ppm. But 350 is more than a number—it's a symbol of where we need to head as a planet.

350.org works hard to organize in a new way—everywhere at once, using online tools to facilitate strategic offline action. We want to be a laboratory for the best ways to strengthen the climate movement and catalyze transformation around the world.

We think we can turn the tide on the climate crisis--but only if we work together. If an international grassroots movement holds our leaders accountable to realities of science and principles of justice, we can realize the solutions that will ensure a better future for all.

River Network empowers and unites people and communities to protect and restore rivers and other waters that sustain the health of our country.

For more than twenty years, River Network has empowered and united people and communities to protect and restore rivers and other waters that sustain the health of our country. We envision a future when every person knows their watershed and is an active caretaker of their local river, lake, stream or bay. We work for the day when all people, fish and wildlife have access to clean plentiful water. Our headquarter staff in Portland, OR and field staff in Vermont, Maryland, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Utah, Idaho and California work closely with thousands of watershed protection groups from coast to coast – building the capacity of state and local groups, assisting people grappling with water and environmental health problems, protecting habitat for fish and wildlife,
developing blue cities and reducing our country’s use of water and energy.

Non-Profits Before August - 7/1/2010

Millions of gallons of oil have oozed into the water since the April 20th rig explosion in the Gulf of Mexico. Some estimates calculate the oil flow to be up to 60,000 barrels of oil a day—that’s 2.5 million gallons of oil a day contaminating our waters and threatening wildlife and sensitive habitats!

And we still don’t know when it will stop. The wildlife casualties are adding up. Hundreds of birds and sea turtles have already been found dead. Hundreds more animals are struggling to survive, drenched in toxic oil. Sadly, this is just the beginning of what’s in store for wildlife in the region due to this devastating tragedy.

The National Wildlife Federation has been on the front lines responding to the wildlife crisis unfolding in the Gulf since the BP Oil Spill started on April 20.

Their  Louisiana-based staff--already working on existing Coastal Louisiana restoration efforts before the spill--was deployed to help with the initial response. They have been joined by national staff, affiliates in the region and a growing network of volunteers.

The National Wildlife Federation is America's largest conservation organization. They work with more than 4 million members, partners and supporters in communities across the country to protect and restore wildlife habitat, confront global warming and connect with nature.

City Slicker Farms empowers West Oakland community members to meet the immediate and basic need for healthy organic food for themselves and their families by creating high-yield urban farms and backyard gardens.

Recently the Santa Barbara area has been hit with voracious fires and threads of mud slides.  In light of this, we have chosen a local Santa Barbara non-profit as December's 1% partner.  Our thoughts are with our friends in Santa Barbara.

Santa Barbara Channelkeeper's mission is to protect and restore the Santa Barbara Channel and its watersheds through citizen action, education, field work, and enforcement.  We work on the water and in communities throughout the South Coast to monitor local waterways, restore aquatic ecosystems, advocate for clean water, enforce environmental laws, and educate and engage citizens in identifying and devising solutions to local water pollution problems. We are working hard to prevent the pollution of our local beaches, waterways and wetlands from urban runoff, sewage spills, agricultural operations, oil and gas production, and large municipal and industrial discharges.  We are a member of the international Waterkeeper Alliance, which now has more than 175 members worldwide.  To learn about water quality and aquatic habitat issues facing the Channel and its watersheds, visit our website at www.sbck.org; while you’re there, sign up for our monthly e-newsletter.
